Our work directly supported thousands of asylum seekers through evidence-based research that informed legal decisions and policy development.

Case-Specific Research

  • 30 Country of Origin Information (COI) research reports completed for individual asylum cases
  • Covered 21 different countries of origin
  • 82% of lawyers reported receiving new information they didn’t previously have
  • 76% success rate in cases with final outcomes where feedback was available
  • 2 case-specific reports published on open access basis

Thematic Research

  • “Sudan: Children and Young People” – comprehensive COI report
  • “Rwanda: Children and Young People” – snapshot report on access to rights and services

Training & Capacity Building

  • 145 people trained globally on COI research skills across 6 training sessions
  • 99% of participants felt more confident in COI research after training
  • 97% rated training as ‘excellent’ or ‘very good’
  • 80 UK participants, with 44 from Legal Aid deserts
  • 5 new volunteer researchers recruited and trained

  • 5,938 unique downloads of reports, repositories, and commentaries
  • 4,807 research update subscribers (27.2% increase from 2023)

2024 was a year of significant organisational transition for Asylos, marked by leadership changes and network evolution, while simultaneously delivering substantial impact through our COI research work. The message highlights our commitment to reflection, strategic development, and values-driven work, positioning Asylos for continued growth, while maintaining our core mission of supporting evidence-based asylum decisions.
