Liz Williams is Vice-chair of Asylos’ Board of Trustees and started her career as a COI research specialist. She went on to co-found Asylum Research Centre in 2010 where she was co-Director for ten years and subsequently a trustee. Her focus was promoting standards in COI research and leading projects to improve how COI was used in refugee decision-making. Alongside this Liz was Freedom from Torture’s Lead Researcher and Senior Policy Advisor (2017-2020) and acted as a consultant for Amnesty International UK, the European Asylum Support Office, the Hungarian Helsinki Foundation, the Independent Advisory Group on Country Information, the Solicitors Regulatory Authority and UNHCR. She was until recently Head of Policy Impact at the Modern Slavery and Human Rights Policy and Evidence Centre, where she worked to bridge the gap between academic research and the world of policymaking and law-making on modern slavery. She is currently the Advocacy Manager at the International Rescue Committee on UK refugee issues.
