Serena Sorrenti is one of our Asia Team Coordinators. She began her journey with Asylos in 2016 as a volunteer researcher, and in 2019 took on the role of Coordinator for the Afghanistan & Pakistan Team, now the Asia Team. Her career in the humanitarian sector spans over a decade, evolving from policy analysis on humanitarian matters to field-based roles where she works in protection programming and advocacy. Serena has built extensive experience in migration, internal and international displacement. She now focuses on proactive protection interventions, supporting individual and collective efforts to prevent armed violence against civilians and reduce its impact, thus strengthening community safety in armed conflict and other situations of violence (OSV). Serena brings experience from humanitarian crises across four continents, having held technical as well as management roles with a range of organisations, including local and international NGOs, UN agency, and UN peacekeeping mission. She speaks Italian, English, French, Spanish, Swedish and Chinese.
