Asylos Strategy 2026-2031

Standing together for protection decisions based on evidence

We are living through a critical moment for protection. As borders tighten, misinformation grows, and AI reshapes decision-making, the stakes for people seeking asylum have never been higher. Asylos is a global network of expert volunteers standing together to ensure those decisions are based on fair processes and accurate information, and our new strategy sharpens our focus on the people who face the greatest barriers because quality evidence must reach everyone who needs it, not just those with resources.

What we bring to this moment

The moment we’re in. Those facing the greatest risks are the least protected; this is exactly the moment quality evidence matters most.

What we bring to it. A skilled, global, values-driven community; volunteers, staff and trustees standing together. Over fifteen years we’ve built a reputation for independence, quality and reliability that no one else has replicated.

Why it matters now. We don’t just provide research, we fight for a world where protection decisions are fair for everyone. We will expand our reach to those facing the greatest barriers and build the partnerships that create systemic change.

“You go far and beyond with your research… I trust Asylos because your notes are objective and impartial.”
Jonathan Dieni, Lawyer of the Liège Bar

Our strategy 2026-2031

Our vision remains the same, but we’ve refined our purpose with a stronger focus on equity: recognising that protection systems are not equal for everyone, and that some people face far greater barriers than others.

Together, we stand for asylum decisions based on evidence

We have done something important in developing this strategy: we did it together. Through workshops, surveys, interviews and roundtables, volunteers, staff, trustees and the people we serve all shaped what you see here. Their voices confirmed our direction and sharpened our priorities.

Whether you’re a lawyer, a founder, a partner organisation, or someone with lived experience of protection systems, there’s a place for you in this strategy.

Marking 15 years of independent Country of Origin Information research.
