Wasil Akhtar holds a Master’s degree in Management of Development from the Netherlands and has more than 15 years of experience working on humanitarian, justice, and economic development projects in Afghanistan. During his career, he worked with international organisations and World Bank–funded programmes focused on improving livelihoods, strengthening institutions, and supporting communities in challenging environments.
Following the fall of Kabul, Wasil sought refuge in Germany with his family and began rebuilding his life in a new country.
Since 2016, he has volunteered with Asylos in the Asia team. Alongside his native Pashto, he speaks Dari, Urdu, and English fluently, and continues to develop his German language skills as part of his integration journey in Germany.
